From Port Blair, it's approximately a 45 minute journey by road to reach Wandoor Jetty, and then a 1 hour boat ride to the gateway to Jolly Buoy Island. Access to Jolly Buoy Island is restricted to protect its delicate ecosystem. Visitors are required to obtain a permit from the Andaman and Nicobar Forest Department before visiting the island. It's advisable to obtain permits well in advance, as only a limited number of visitors are allowed on the island each day.

Additionally, certain activities such as snorkeling and glass bottom boat rides may require separate permits. Please check the current permissions well in advance, permits are also required for cameras, video cameras etc.

Best Time to visit Jolly Buoy

The Island is open only for only 5 months in a year, do check with us before planning. The best time to visit Jolly Buoy Island is during the dry season, which typically extends from November to April.  During this time, the weather is characterised by clear skies, calm seas, and minimal rainfall, providing ideal conditions for outdoor activities such as snorkeling, swimming, and beach exploration. The months of December to February are particularly popular among tourists, as the weather is mild and pleasant, making it perfect for enjoying the beauty of Jolly Buoy Island to the fullest.
